The first thing you should do is introduce yourself on the #02-introductions channel. You can write any introduction you’d like, but if prompts are helpful you can answer these:

• Name and pronoun?

• Occupation and location?

• How long have you been in the DC area?

• What got you into EA?

• Which cause areas are most important to you?

• What do you like to do for fun?

• Any other fun facts about yourself?

• What is one way in which someone in EA DC could help you, or vice versa?

• #01-general: The main channel, where announcements are made and most conversations are held.

• #02-introductions: This is where EA DC members introduce themselves to the community. After writing your introduction feel free to scroll and see what others have written. Posting an introduction is a great way to get connected to a lot of people with similar interests.

• #03-events: Where we post all official EA DC events, and where anyone can share info about EA-related events in the city.

• #04-job-opportunities: EA-related job opportunities in the city. Feel free to share any that you find! You can also look at our jobs board for postings and updates.

• #05-help-requests: Request for help from other EAs in DC, whether it’s about career advice, requests for resource recommendations, advice on life in DC, or one off tasks!

• #06-help-offered: If you’re available to offer help to other group members this is the place to do it!

• #07-kudos: Send respect to people in the group who have done cool things recently, or to yourself! If you know someone who recently donated a kidney, made a big donation to GiveWell, or led an earth-shattering project about shrimp welfare, this is the place to shout them out!

• #08-random: Anything that doesn’t fit in the other channels.

• #09-casual-plans: Want to hang out with other EAs or do something fun in the city? Post here and see who’s available.

• #10-community-1-on-1s: Join this channel to be randomly matched to a different EA every 2 weeks to start a conversation over Zoom or in person.

• #11-coworking: Want to co-work virtually or in person with other EAs? Post on this channel or add your name to the coworking interest sheet.

• #12-housing: Want to live with other EAs? Post here if you’re looking for roommates or fill out the EAs Interseting in Housing Sheet to find short or longterm options.
